Leatherface is the sobriquet earned by John Neville, the highwayman who haunted the Dover Road. Swashbuckling action is set against city taverns and roadside inns, and played out amongst rogues, the Bow Street Runners, cheats and gamblers - not forgetting the Drury Lane actress, Royall Demarest, and the notorious pickpocket, George Barrington, both of whom come under Leatherface's strange spell.
